Welcome to my website.

In 2011 I celebrated 40 years of professional involvement in chess. I am busier than ever now as Executive Secretary of FIDE's Chess in Schools Commission and with our new initiative of Student Membership (see cis.fide.com and sm.fide.com).

I have a most unusual spread of things that I do or have done.

I have taught many hundreds of absolute beginners, but I have also been involved with World Championship matches, starting in 1971 when I was part of Bob Wade's tiny secret team, preparing a card index file of all Spassky's games for the challenger in the 1972 Spassky-Fischer match.

I have coached individuals and teams from several different countries.

I have been arbiter at tournaments involving kids who barely knew the rules, and other events where I stood next to the games of Tal, Spassky, Karpov, Korchnoi, Kasparov, Kramnik, Anand and many other top GMs.

I believe that this exceptional range of experience has given me many unique insights into chess in general and chess coaching and training in particular. Those insights can be at your disposal.
